More than 150 Children Receive Backpacks and School Supplies!

Neighbors Together celebration touched more than five dozen families.

Neighbors Together sent our kids back to school in style! The organization’s Back to School Block Party on Saturday, August 13th gave away more than 150 backpacks filled with school supplies.

“Today was about connecting with our community and supporting the children who are headed back to school,” said Neighbors Together Executive Director Rev. Kara Stewart. “We are so thankful for the businesses in our community who stepped forward to help make this celebration possible.”

Children and their families were greeted with food, fun (including ice cream) and the opportunity to receive a COVID-19 vaccine (thank you DHEC)!  Children could also pick out their favorite from a selection of colorful backpacks, filled with school supplies.

EVENT BY THE NUMBERS:

  • 157 children received a backpack
  • 62 parents/families registered
  • 315 COVID testing kits were passed out
  • 15 COVID vaccines were given a
  • 250 Ice Cream Sundaes enjoyed
  • 250 Martins BBQ Meals provided
  • 150 children enjoyed golf putting, the bounce house, connect four and face paint
