We Help with Basic Financial Needs
300 people have called Neighbors Together in the last two weeks to get information about applying for funds to help with rent, electric, and water bills.
This vital program needs your help because of the overwhelming demand. We have had to delay help for 15 people already this year. Earlier this week — we were greeted by seven women shivering in the pre-dawn darkness, waiting to see if they could receive help.
One woman told us, “I have to get my name on this list. If my power gets cut off, my kids won’t be able to do their homework, I won’t be able to cook them dinner, and we won’t have any heat.“
We provide limited financial assistance to help pay rent, utilities, transportation and other basic needs for neighbors experiencing temporary financial setbacks.
If you need help, application appointments are Tuesdays & Thursdays 10-1, on a first come, first served basis. Visit us at 2105 Cosgrove Ave., North Charleston, SC 29405.
A mother experiences serious medical bills and can’t pay her light or water bill. An individual has been laid off and is about to be evicted. A family needs transportation to get to another community where the father has a new job waiting. Sometimes folks just hit a financial bump in the road and need a temporary helping hand to get around it and keep going.
That’s the simple idea behind Neighbors Together’s Community Needs Assistance Program (CNAP), which provides limited emergency assistance thanks to our donors.
Because so many in our community suffer financial distress at one time or another, particularly now during the pandemic, Neighbors Together’s efforts are coordinated with other area agencies offering this type of assistance to allow everyone to work together to extend available resources to benefit the most people in need.
We offer rental and utility assistance on a case-by-case basis depending on family income levels.
